Ramp applied for an OCC Trust Charter to custody digital assets.
My guess is this allows them to custody stablecoins for clients that need that.
But in time it potentially let's them he a great solution for all things tokenized money market funds and cash.
Same logic as a lot of people applying.
- If there was ever a time to apply it's now.
- Potentially better unit economics vs having someone else custody
- More control over experience / funds flow
On Friday, Ramp submitted an application to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) to establish Ramp National Trust Bank. If approved, the charter would allow the trust bank to offer fiduciary investment management and custody of digital assets. The proposed trust bank would bring these services under a consistent federal regulatory framework, helping us build great products alongside our banking partners to further our mission to save businesses time and money.
